Charles Cheever, Choate’s co-managing partner since 2014, helps high net worth clients manage their planning, tax, and investment responsibilities in order to meet their financial goals for their families. Charles works deliberately to get to know his clients and their families personally in order to provide advice that is independent and focused exclusively on what is best for each client. With deep experience serving as trustee for more than $1 billion in assets, he utilizes the full range of Choate’s Family Office Services Group to deliver fully integrated counsel in estate planning, income and gift tax planning and return preparation, investment advice, portfolio management, and trustee services.

Charles earned his JD from the University of Virginia School of Law and is admitted to practice in Massachusetts.

Jessica Lambert, co-chair of Choate’s Wealth Management Practice Group, provides comprehensive and personalized estate planning advice to high net worth individuals and families, with an emphasis on sophisticated wealth transfer strategies to minimize estate, gift, and generation skipping transfer taxes. She works closely with multiple generations of families on all aspects of wealth management, ranging from basic estate planning such as wills, durable powers of attorney, and health care proxies to sophisticated strategies for lifetime asset transfers, including grantor retained annuity trusts (GRATs), family limited partnerships, income tax advantaged grantor trusts, and qualified personal residence trusts (QPRTs).

Jessica advises clients on making tax-efficient gifts to charity, including retirement assets and qualified appreciated stock, and assists with the establishment of private family foundations. She represents private foundations in applying for and maintaining exempt status, and also helps with tax and estate planning for multiple generations of international families and trustees of offshore trusts.

Jessica earned her JD from Boston College Law School and is admitted to practice in Massachusetts.

Lanny Thorndike is Co-Chair of Choate Wealth and President of Choate Investment Advisors. In this role, Lanny oversees the investment strategy and day-to-day operations of Choate Investment Advisors while working closely with Choate’s wealth management team of trustees, lawyers, tax preparers, and trusts and estates administrators, Lanny helps to ensure the coordinated delivery of best-in-class integrated family office services to wealthy families and individuals – to help them grow and protect their assets across multiple generations.

Previously, Lanny spent over 18 years at Century Capital Management LLC where he served as Managing Partner and CEO, along with Chairman of the Century Funds.  Prior to joining Choate, Lanny served as Managing Director of Congress Asset Management and a Portfolio Manager on the firm’s Small Cap Growth, SMid Growth, and Large Cap Growth Investment Committees. He was also a member of the firm’s Management Committee.

Lanny earned his Bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and received an MBA from The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He is on the board of several organizations, including MassGeneral Brigham, Brigham Health and the Cotting School, the nation's oldest school for disabled children.

Kristin Abati provides sophisticated tax and estate planning advice to high net worth families spanning multiple generations, helping them to meet their specific financial goals. With over 20 years of experience, Kristin advises wealthy families, entrepreneurs, and their associated businesses on all aspects of tax, gift, and estate planning. She helps her clients structure lifetime gifts that leverage their gift tax exemptions, including gifts of carried interests and other illiquid assets. She also helps her clients accomplish non-gift transfers that pass significant wealth to the next generation, including by funding grantor retained annuity trusts (GRATs), among other techniques. Clients also seek Kristen’s advice on a wide range of charitable matters, from structuring large planned gifts to public charities, to managing her clients’ private foundations.

Kristin is widely published and considered an expert in complicated tax matters and the laws of fiduciary duty, including trustee decanting. Relying on her expertise, many clients ask Kristin to serve as their executor and trustee. She is a member of Choate’s Executive Committee, and immediate past Co-Chair of the Wealth Management Group.

Thomas brings over 15 years of trust, estate and high net worth wealth management experience. Prior to joining Choate, Thomas was an Assistant Vice President at US Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management, where he managed high net worth relationships in excess of $300 million. In that capacity, he worked with high net worth individuals and multi-generational families by managing ongoing relationships which included revocable and irrevocable trusts, IRAs, CRUTs, ILITs and investment management accounts. Thomas possesses strong client management skills and specific knowledge of individual, trust and estate taxes, asset allocation, and estate and financial planning.

Tamer Alamuddin is the Managing Director of Choate Investment Advisors. Tamer focuses on investment research and works closely with clients and the Wealth Management Group to provide tailored solutions for their wealth management needs and investment goals.  He is also a member of Choate Investment Advisors’ Sustainable, Responsible and Impact Investing Committee, in which Tamer identifies attractive investments that also provide a social and environmental benefit.

Prior to joining Choate, Tamer was an analyst and portfolio manager at Osprey Partners, investing on behalf of major institutional clients.  Tamer has also worked as a sector-specific analyst at hedge fund Akasha Capital and co-founded the long/short equity fund Tara Hill Capital.  He has extensive analytic experience having worked as an analyst at Off Wall Street Research and as a consultant in the Boston office of McKinsey & Company.

Pearl Bell works closely with Choate’s trustees and estate planning lawyers and Choate Investment Advisors to coordinate the integrated delivery of family office services to high net worth families and individuals. For many clients, Pearl is their primary point of contact, and she directs many of the important aspects of their financial lives, including the coordination of bill paying, charitable and non-charitable gifting, account opening and closing, financial reporting etc. With over 30 years of experience, Pearl is engaged in the planning and then, importantly, implementing clients’ estate plans and often helps support clients’ major purchases. She also helps clients with budgeting, implementing cybersecurity protection efforts, coordinating yacht and flight crews, and hiring, firing, and mentoring of domestic staff, among other things.

Jonathan Bentley is a Senior Investment Analyst at Choate Investment Advisors. He works with Portfolio Managers to source new ideas, conduct fundamental analysis, and assist in the development and delivery of recommendations, as well as manage existing clients’ portfolios. Jonathan also helps to monitor existing portfolio positions and assess their outlook.

Prior to joining Choate Investment Advisors, Jonathan worked as Research Director & Portfolio Manager at Lowell, Blake & Associates. He has also served as an Equity Research Associate at SVB Leerink and as Investment Analyst at Tetrem Capital Management, a long-only value fund.

Jonathan is a member of the CFA Society Boston and the CFA Institute.

Marc Bloostein provides sophisticated estate planning advice to high-net worth individuals and families. He has over 30 years of experience in all aspects of trust and estate administration, including advising fiduciaries and beneficiaries and serving as trustee for multiple family trusts. He is a trusted advisor to private equity and hedge fund principals and to their firms, helping them structure funds to generate estate planning opportunities and providing them with thoughtful advice on effective wealth transfer strategies.

Marc is generous in sharing his legal experience and  knowledge. He teaches a course on estate planning at Harvard Law School and frequently lectures to lawyers on estate planning  topics. He was instrumental in the 2012 enactment of the Massachusetts Uniform Trust Code, and chaired a committee that recommended the Uniform Trust Decanting Act for adoption in Massachusetts.

Courtney invests in each client relationship and makes it a priority to personally get to know her clients and their families in order to provide the best advice and service to each of them. Kimberly Cohen is known for her strategic planning advice and extensive estate planning experience. She regularly counsels entrepreneurs, partners of private equity firms, venture capitalists, private and public company officers and shareholders, and high net worth individuals and families in the development and implementation of sophisticated planning techniques to aid with the accumulation, preservation, and transfer of wealth. She has particular experience working with private equity and hedge fund clients in the Boston and New York regions.

In addition, Kim serves as a trustee for many family trusts and helps clients achieve their philanthropic goals through vehicles such as private foundations, charitable remainder and lead trusts, and charitable gift annuities.

Kim is also a frequent lecturer on new developments in the estate planning area including at the Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning, The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) Annual Meeting, and The American Law Institute Awards.

Prior to joining Choate Investment Advisors, Malik worked as an Equity Research Associate at SVB Private, where he conducted stock specific research, and helped manage two internal equity strategies. He also previously worked as a Credit Analyst at Brookline Bancorp and a Management Consulting Associate at PwC.

Jenna DiPietro is an experienced estate administrator who handles all aspects of estate administration, including the preparation of estate tax returns, identifying, valuing and collecting probate and non-probate assets, and funding trusts pursuant to the decedent’s estate plan.

Prior to joining Choate, Jenna worked as a estate and trust administrator at a law firm in Salem, as well as a paralegal in a large Boston law firm.

Henry Dormitzer serves on the investment committee at Choate Investment Advisors and as a trustee for family trusts and foundations. Drawing on over 30 years’ experience in the industry, Henry specializes in direct investments into private companies, investing in private equity funds, and fixed income investments. Henry also helps families devise governance systems and operational platforms to support their family office needs.

Before joining Choate, Henry served as the chief executive officer of a private energy company developing hydropower facilities on existing dams through the United States and advising private equity funds on energy project acquisitions.

He was a managing director at investment banking firm UBS where he managed the firm’s Massachusetts public finance office. He was the senior underwriter of $24 billion of new issue municipal bonds for transportation, clean water programs, general infrastructure and real estate projects.

Brian has more than 10 years of experience providing tax services to high net worth individuals.  Prior to joining Choate, Brian was a Senior Tax Accountant with Cowan Bolduc Doherty, LLC, then Friedman, Suvalle and Salomon, PC. At those firms, he worked with clients and advisors to provide tax services, including the preparation of individual, corporate, partnership, foundation and trust income tax returns.

At Choate, Brian has continued his focus on tax preparation and planning for high net worth individuals. Additionally, his responsibilities include the preparation of income tax returns for a wide range of entities including revocable and irrevocable trusts, investment management accounts and charitable foundations.

Brian graduated from Merrimack College with a BS in Business and a concentration in Accounting. As an Enrolled Agent, he specializes in taxation and has unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS. He has successfully passed the CPA exam, and is in the process of obtaining his license. Brian is currently enrolled in the Carroll School of Management’s Masters in Finance program at Boston College.

Erin Kerr is a Portfolio Manager & Chief Compliance Officer at Choate Investment Advisors.  As a Portfolio Manager, Erin focuses on investment research and works closely with clients and the Wealth Management Group to provide tailored solutions for their wealth management needs and investment goals.  As Chief Compliance Officer, Erin is responsible for developing and managing all compliance initiatives to ensure that the Choate Investment Advisors and its employees are complying with relevant regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures.  Erin is also a member of Choate Investment Advisors’ Sustainable, Responsible and Impact Investing Committee, which identifies attractive investments that also provide a social and environmental benefit.  Erin is a CFA Charterholder and a member of the Boston Security Analysts Society.

Erin joined Choate Investment Advisors after receiving her MBA from the Boston University Questrom School of Business with dual concentrations in finance and strategy and business analysis.  Erin graduated with honors and was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, an international honor society that recognizes academic achievement in the study of business for the top 20% of students.  While attending business school, Erin worked in development at Boston University School of Law, specializing in cultivating long-term relationships with donor constituents.  Erin previously graduated magna cum laude from Boston University with a BA in International Relations and an emphasis on European Political Economy.

Jake Kidder is a Portfolio Manager at Choate Investment Advisors with over fourteen years of experience in investment management. He works closely with Choate’s trustees, tax preparers, and trusts and estates advisors to provide custom integrated solutions for clients. A member of the investment committee, Jake focuses his research on fixed income and US equities.

Prior to joining Choate Investment Advisors, Jake was a Portfolio Manager at Foster Dykema Cabot. He has also worked as an Investment Specialist at Wellington Management. Before attending business school, Jake was an Analyst and Portfolio Manager at Choate Investment Advisors.

Previously, Jake was a member of the Endicott College Board of Trustees and Finance Committee.

Courtney King joined Choate Investment Advisors in 2008 after working for three years on the Family Office Services team at Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP.  She works closely with members of ChoateIA and the family office team to ensure a high level of client service. Courtney leverages her institutional knowledge to work within groups refining processes and procedures related to serving our clients. She works on special client projects involving bookkeeping, reporting and meeting preparation, facilitates client outreach, and is responsible for essential compliance functions in support of ChoateIA’s Chief Compliance Officer.

Ben also supports the firm’s overall research process and collaborates with the investment team to identify potential position changes within strategy guidelines and the investment process.

Bill Lowell helps high net worth clients to grow and protect multi-generational wealth through sophisticated estate planning. Patrick McArdle joined Choate’s Wealth Management Team in 2014. Prior to joining Choate, Patrick served as Vice President and Senior Trust Officer with Merrill Lynch Trust Company. In that capacity, he was lead manager for the regional New York Team with Merrill Lynch Trust Company’s High Net Worth Group and was responsible for delivering fiduciary services to high net worth families, financial advisors and private wealth advisors in the New York metropolitan area. Patrick brings over 17 years of wealth management experience where he has coordinated and executed client wealth planning goals, administered personal trusts, court supervised trusts, philanthropic planning vehicles, IRAs and multi-generational wealth transfer vehicles.

At Choate, Patrick works closely with a select group of families and their advisors to develop and implement family office services tailored to meet their individual family need. In doing so, Patrick serves as a lead relationship manager in the management of personal trusts, private family foundations and family investment companies. His expertise includes oversight of asset custody, cash management, coordination of tax matters with accountants, private investment subscriptions and ongoing capital management, plans for company board meetings, and communication with immediate and extended family on personal trust matters, investment company matters and personal financial needs.

Harrison joined Choate Investment Advisors after earning a BS in Mathematics and Quantitative Economics from Tufts University, where he focused his studies on mathematical modeling.  While at Tufts, he helped found the 180 Degrees Consulting Branch of Tufts University, an international student-run consultancy providing services to charities and nonprofit organizations.  During the summers, Harrison attended the Business Bridge Program at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and interned twice with Choate Investment Advisors.

Albana Orgocka has over 20 years of estate and trust administration experience. Prior to joining Choate, Albana was an estate administrator at Loring, Wolcott & Coolidge Trust, LLC. She oversees all aspects of estate administration, including the preparation of all required estate tax returns and probate accounting documents. She performs a wide range of complex estate administration functions, drawing upon her extensive and sophisticated knowledge of federal and state estate, generation skipping and gift taxation principals, personal trust and probate accounting practices and investment and personal tax laws.

Albana is founder and former co-chairwoman of the Massachusetts Albanian American Society, a non-profit organization that advocates on behalf of the Albanian American community. She was recognized by the Albanian American Woman’s Organization Motrat Qiriazi with a Woman of the Year Award for her work in Massachusetts’ Albanian-American community. For over a year, she has volunteered as a social worker at The International Institute of Boston, offering support to those from Kosovo.

Albana is a graduate of the ABA Graduate Trust School and earned a MA from Columbia University. She is a Fulbright Scholar and a member of the Boston Estate Planning Council.

Prior to joining Choate, Mark worked as Senior Manager of Operations for Lowell, Blake & Associates, as well as the Senior Vice President of Operations and Anti-Money Laundering at Winslow, Evans & Crocker, Inc. in Boston. He was also a compliance specialist and managed a proprietary mutual fund trading group at Ameriprise in Minneapolis.

Peter is the Senior Operations and Reporting Manager of the Trust Operations Department within Choate’s Wealth Management Group and oversees the day-to-day processing of all trust-related activity. Peter works closely with trustees, trust administrators, portfolio managers and tax professionals to provide clients with the best possible service. He is also responsible for managing the outsourced back office team and trust accounting system for data reconcilement, maintaining data integrity and monitoring all activity for compliance purposes. As Senior Manager, he has successfully managed four system conversions as well as two custody conversions.

Peter joined the Firm’s Tax Department in 1986 as a Tax Preparer. In 1990, he became Manager of the Tax Department and was responsible for the preparation and filing of all fiduciary and individual tax returns. In 1994, he became the Manager of the Trust Operations Department.

Peter graduated from Stonehill College with degrees in Communications and History.

Brian joined Choate after receiving a BSBA from the Boston University Questrom School of Business, where he concentrated in Operations and Technology. While at Boston University, Brian earned his Six-Sigma Greenbelt Certification and competed for their Division I Wrestling program. 

Prior to joining Choate Investment Advisors, Brian worked at State Street as a financial operations specialist. At State Street, Brian was responsible for maintaining client holdings and account reconciliations, with a focus on derivative investments as a part of their Alternative Investment Solutions group.

Prior to joining Choate Investment Advisors, Alison was the Director of Investments at Boston Children’s Hospital, where she sourced and evaluated investment strategies, managed risk and liquidity, and played an integral role in growing the institution’s assets. She has also served as Interim Chief Investment Officer at Brandeis University. Alison received her MBA from Babson College, and her BA in Finance from Bryant University.

He also previously served as Head of Product Management at Boston Private and spent 11 years in the Financial Services Consulting Practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLC (PwC).

Hideyoshi joined Choate after receiving a BSBA from the Boston University Questrom School of Business, where he concentrated in Finance and Entrepreneurship.  Prior to joining Choate Investment Advisors, Hideyoshi was part of Choate, Hall & Stewart’s Trust Operations Department as a Trust Analyst.  While working with the Trust Operations department, Hideyoshi specialized in account reconciliation and asset movement and also conducted day-to-day operations such as setting up and processing client wires, check deposits, along with opening and closing accounts.

Prior to attending Boston University, Hideyoshi served in the US Army for four years as an Infantry team leader.
